Jenna Duffy aka the Carpenterby *duss005

issue 12 of Batman Streets of Gotham came out this week, and the main story is about Jenna Duffy aka "the carpenter". Paul Dini and I created her back in Detective comics issue 841, a few years back as part of the wonderland gang

this is her story. here's a close up of the logo for the Carpenter's van.

the original is 7 x 10 i think, watercolor on 300lb hot press.

took me an afternoon to do, although, i think we used it in like... one panel and came out to be about ..an inch or two in actual print. Hopefully we'll use it again, was fun to do.

Jenna's logo here was inspired by the incomparable George Petty, whom Paul Dini forwarded to me. check it out here-

i totally adore the Carpenter's character, she's funny, witty, and sarcastic. and can kick serious ass as you'll see in part 2 ( issue 13)

Since Paul Dini's head writing positions for Detective Comics and Gotham City Sirens, the Carpenter has been growing on me. I'm glad you went more "subtle" with the smile than George Petty usually did. Although, I always love to see the Carpenter grumpy. I don't know what it is, but she's cute when she frowns.
