spoiler for the last page of issue 848 that came out today.
i wanted to do a step by step of how i go about a page, but we've been on such a crazy schedule lately, that its sort of tough to stop and scan in between.
i do panel break downs, on the scripts, but all my roughs/layouts are done on the page as i draw them, so unless i scan them right there, i don't really have a record of them. most of the time, i change them as i go along too, so its hard to keep track.
this one i have sort of a record because we were so backed up that i had to scan my roughs to send over to production for them to start word ballooning the page before i even penciled it. ( dont worry, we're all caught up now, no late issues i assure you)
sorry its a splash also, so there's no panels on there to demonstrate any real storytelling... ( starting to sound like a bad portfolio review)
please keep in mind this page was under EXTREME deadlines :[ ( really starting to sound like a bad portfolio review haha)
anyway- 1- me- rough layout, tight on characters 2- me- tighten the rough on the backgrounds 3- derek - inks
soon! i'll do a few pages of real panel work, REAL comics.
My biggest problem is seeing through the loose roughs I do to clean them up. I appear to be the only one. All those lines going everywhere messes with my eyes.
I'm thankful your doing these step by step things, even at the minimal level. Your definitly one of the good ones.
