some more loose sketches for old toys/animation projects.

i used to do about an hour or two's worth every morning to loosen up before hitting the interior pages. i'd easily go thru a ream of paper a week.

not that i'd draw anything useful. just you know, i dont like to erase.

awesome stuff bro, she's so bad-ass. I'ts amazing how you can capture a character in just a few "loose sketches". how long did this take you?

thanks man. i dont think i spent more than 1-2 minutes per sketch. the entire idea of concept sketching is to flesh out as much as you can as fast as you can without falling in love with a single drawing right away. this way, there isnt too much refinement and your original idea or thought stays there and shows thru. some automotive designers i know pratice a similar idea called the "5 stroke rule" or something when sketching vehicles. basically, if you cant convey form and motion in 5 strokes, youre thinking too hard.

of course, this is before the client asks for revisions and gives their input, and factoring in engineering, plastic costs, tooling costs, base or no base, etc. stuff like that. so might as well have fun while you can : D

1-2 minutes O.O!! It would take me at least 5 minutes a sketch. how did you get so fast? I guess I'm too much of a perfectionist, I always get caught up adding details or erasing.

hahaha I guess thats the good thing about me being too young to work in the buisness, I have no client so I can draw for fun all the time. but in a few years I should know what your talking about hehe :D
