here's another batgirl cover i did about 2 years back, totally hannibal, it was approved, done, then decided to not be used last minute. i think it was a bit more different than the title called for at the time. DC was extremely upfront and asked if i wanted to redo the entire thing ( AND get paid a SECOND TIME!) but i was extremely pressed under my own title's deadline and had to decline. i wish i could have though. i don't know the cain guy, but he looks way fun to draw.

in hindsight, im kind of glad it never got published, it was way more ambitious than i could pull off and in the end, it didint come off as something really me. plus it's sorta amateurish in execution./

big big words for me people.

Dude, David Cain is a total bad ass. You should read up on the guy. He's one of DC's most under-rated villains.

I think its great that you're able to critique yourself like that. I wish more of the industry people were still able to step down off the horse and do just that. There are parts about this that are curious, I'll agree, but I still think its a lot better than a lot of the work DC has been putting out lately, so don't be TOO harsh on yourself.

Ah looks great... though you've definitely improved a lot over the last two years :). Cain is Batgirl's Dad and some crazy leet martial artist but I'm sure they told you as much when you were drawing this XD. The Hannibal thing is sweet, though a little random... but DC is infamous for having covers that lie so whatever HAH XD. Love it! I assume this was for the Father's Day (June 06';) issue?

wow dude, you really DO know your shit! i jsut went back to look at the prelims i did and it WAS the father's day issue.

you're totally right about covers too, the more mainstream a book is, the more the cover tends to not relate to the book as much. the two usually reasons for that are marketability and the fact that the story's not even written yet. they have to solicit 3 months in advance, and more than half the time, the scripts dont come in till a month before due to crossover stuff or just story shuffles. bigger monthly titles are tougher that way for the artists sometimes, they get all the blame when a book's late.

obviously, i could also be lying my ass off to lead into any lateness or problems i might run into down the road ...due to my sleeping addiction.
