Haha I put be an asshole because it was funny ... but I've been in the same position a few times and try to answer them all .. sometimes it takes a really long time and I'm sure people are like huh ? Who's this douhe respond 3 months later after I commented ...
But yeah maybe the other suggestion where you say thanks and that you've read them all and appreciate them but you're going to whipe the slate clean and try to keep up in the less busy times of the year.

i said start here, I would say the asshole one, because thats not really being an ass. But you seem like the type to really wanna communicate with your fans, commenters, critiquers, and appreciators.
It's more than understandable why you can't get back to each and every comment left behind. You have a life and career going on, if there's people that cannot grasp that then you know who your true fans are.
Good for you! It's admiral to see someone with such a busy schedule still eager to keep in touch with fans. Do the best that you can, and just continue to make wonderful art in the process.

10k+ deviations, 7k+ messages here, so I'm no one to give advice but basically, reply to the comments that are worth replying to if that makes sense- questions, really thought out comments I'm sure people just saying "nice picture!" don't expect much of a reply and if you want you could do a journal explaining your build-up of messages and thank them all at once.
You are one of the friendliest professional on DA and i know we all appreciate it, but understandably convention season can really wreck your schedule as you're traveling and still working deadlines. I'm just happy to see art from you dude!
